The Perfect Lean Eatin’ Burger Recipe

I never get tired of a good burger. Sometimes I splurge on a nice squishy bun. Sometimes I jam my patty between slices of sprouted grain bread. But more often than not I eat it with a knife and fork beside a salad or steamed veggies.

It doesn’t matter how you eat it. You can enjoy a great burger however you like. But if you don’t know what you’re doing, it’s easy to create a dry, tasteless hunk of nastiness…

I filmed this video right here in my kitchen because I want to share my foolproof burger recipe with you. It works EVERY time without fail. Check it out:


 

Here’s the recipe:

  • 1 Egg
  • Tomato paste (2 tbs)
  • Dijon mustard (2 tbs)
  • Oat bran (1/4 cup)
  • Parmesan Cheese (1/8 cup)
  • 1 lb extra lean ground beef
  • 1 lb ground chicken
  • 1/2 to 1 diced onion
  • Pinch or two of sea salt
  • Freshly ground pepper to taste

Mix the egg, tomato paste and Dijon. Then add in the oat bran and Parmesan, and keep mixing until it forms a paste. Add the beef, chicken, onion and seasoning. Get in there with your hands and mix everything until the texture is even. Don’t be afraid to get dirty!

Fire up the grill on high. Form your patties while you wait by creating a ball and then flattening it out. Run your thumb around the outside of the patty to make it uniform.

Slap those patties on the grill and immediately reduce heat to medium. Cook for 4-6 minutes per side.
